Yay!! finally i had collected the full set of the Beijing Olympics Fuwa from Mcdonald's. Got my last piece (beibei) today...thanks to BZ =D
These Fuwa are the Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, they carry a message of friendship & peace and good wishes from China.
Their colours are the 5 Olympic Rings colours. Each Fuwa has a rhyming two-syllable name (a traditional way of expressing affection for children in China). They also embody the natural characteristics of four of China's most popular animals -
Beibei the Fish, Jingjing the Panda,
Huanhuan the Olympic Flame,
Yingying the Tibetan Antelope &
Nini the Swallow.
When you put their names together - Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni (北京欢迎你)- means "Welcome to Beijing"
At the headpieces of each Fuwa, you can see the 5 elements of nature - the sea, forest, fire, earth & sky - all stylistically rendered in ways that represent the deep traditional influences of the Chinese folk art & ornamentation.
Beibei (贝贝)
In China's traditional culture & art, the fish and water designs are symbols of prosperity & harvest.
Therefore 贝贝 carries the blessing of prosperity. A fish is also a symbol of surplus in Chinese culture, another measure of a good year & good life.
贝贝's personality is gentle & pure, friendly and a leader. She is strong in water sports and she reflects the Blue Olympic Ring.

Jingjing (晶晶)
